About the Role

We are seeking a dual-focus Functional Consultant & UAT Test Analyst to bridge the gap between business requirements, system architecture, and end-to-end business acceptance testing for our enterprise Time & Absence Solution.

In this role, you will act as the functional authority across the integration landscape—spanning Workday (Core HCM & Absence), WorkForce Software (WFS) (Time, Attendance, and Scheduling), and ADP (Gross Payroll Processing). You will review Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), System Design Documents (SDDs), and functional specifications to advise project teams on end-to-end functionality, design comprehensive User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios, and guide business testers through test execution and defect triage.

Key Responsibilities

1. Functional Advisory & Specification Review

  • Serve as the functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Time, Absence, and Payroll interface rules across Workday, WFS, and ADP.
  • Deconstruct BRDs, SDDs, interface mapping documents, and business process models to detect ambiguities, logic gaps, or cross-system conflicts before testing begins.
  • Guide HR operations, payroll teams, and system architects on cross-system workflows (e.g., employee hire in Workday  schedule profile in WFS  time capture/punch rounding  leave accrual deduction in Workday  payable hours extract to ADP).
  • Translate statutory, regional, and company policy rules (e.g., overtime rules, shift premiums, bank holidays, statutory sick pay, intermittent leave) into system-verifiable logic.

2. UAT Strategy & Test Case Preparation

  • Author comprehensive, end-to-end UAT test scenarios, scripts, and edge-case conditions grounded directly in the BRD and SDD.
  • Establish and maintain a robust Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) to ensure 100% test coverage from business requirements down to individual functional components and test results.
  • Define target test data requirements, persona profiles, and execution preconditions across sandbox and pre-production environments.
  • Design specific cross-system integration test scenarios, including API sync validation, automated batch job runs, and retro-pay / retroactive adjustment calculations.

3. Test Execution, Business Support & Defect Management

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and hand-hold business stakeholders and HR end-users through UAT execution cycles.
  • Run functional smoke tests and validate cross-system data syncs prior to handing test scripts over to business users.
  • Triage defects in tools such as Jira, ALM, or Azure DevOps; investigate root causes, isolate whether issues stem from configuration, integration mapping, or test data, and assign them to the appropriate vendor/implementation team (Workday, WFS, or ADP).
  • Conduct daily defect stand-ups and manage re-testing and regression testing until sign-off.
  • Assist the QA Lead in preparing UAT entry/exit criterion reports, test summaries, and formal business sign-off documentation.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 5+ years of combined experience in functional analysis, business analysis, and QA/UAT testing within enterprise HR, WFM, or Payroll systems.
  • Domain Knowledge: Deep functional domain knowledge of Time & Attendance, Leave/Absence Management, Scheduling, and Gross-to-Net Payroll processing.
  • System Familiarity: Hands-on exposure to at least two of the following platforms, with a solid understanding of how they exchange data:
    • Workday (HCM, Absence Management, Time Tracking)
    • WorkForce Software (WFS) (EmpCenter / Time & Attendance, Advanced Scheduler)
    • ADP (GlobalView, Enterprise, Vantage, or Workforce Now payroll interfaces)
  • Testing Competency: Proven track record in writing business-friendly, step-by-step UAT test cases, managing RTMs, and executing cross-application integration scenarios.
  • Tools Proficiency: Experience using test management and defect tracking software (e.g., Jira, Xray, Zephyr, HP ALM/Quality Center, Azure DevOps).
  • Documentation Skills: Proven ability to read, interpret, and challenge complex technical architecture, SDDs, and data mapping specifications.

Key Competencies

  • End-to-End Systems Thinking: Ability to trace how a change in one system (e.g., an absence request entered in Workday) affects rules downstream (e.g., shift cancellation in WFS and unpaid hours extract to ADP).
  • Stakeholder Enablement: Strong empathy and patience for coaching non-technical business users and HR administrators through complex testing processes.
  • Analytical Rigor: Exceptional attention to detail when testing boundary conditions, holiday calendars, complex union agreements, and rounding rules.
  • Cross-Vendor Defect Articulation: Ability to clearly log defects with exact payloads, system error logs, and reproducible steps so third-party vendors can resolve issues quickly.

Primary Deliverables Owned by this Role

  1. Detailed UAT Test Plan & Execution Schedule
  2. Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) linking BRD/SDD to UAT Test Cases
  3. End-to-End Functional Test Scenarios & Detailed Step-by-Step Test Scripts
  4. Test Data Requirement Catalogs (personas, employee records, timecard profiles)
  5. Daily UAT Execution Dashboards & Defect Triage Logs
  6. Final UAT Summary & Business Sign-Off Documentation
